Chronic hypertension
Chronic hypertension is hypertension that is present at the booking visit, before 20 weeks of gestation, or if the woman was hypertensive before conception.
Most women with chronic hypertension are asymptomatic. New-onset chronic hypertension should be further evaluated to identify underlying causes such as renal artery stenosis, chronic kidney disease, or Cushing syndrome.
Pharmacological treatment
Methyldopa (PO) 250–500 mg every 8 hours
AND
Nifedipine (PO) 20 mg every 12 hours
