Approach to Difficult in Breathing

Shortness of breath or breathlessness may result from a range of pulmonary, cardiac and central nervous system causes. It is important to look for the underlying cause for immediate intervention.

Approach to Fever

Fever is abnormal elevation of body temperature that occurs as part of a specific biologic response that is mediated and controlled by central nervous system and is usually a symptom of an infection.

Approach to Pain

Pain is an unpleasant sensation or emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage.

Approach to Seizure and Status Epilepticus

Status epilepticus is a single seizure ≥5 minutes in length or two or more seizures without recovery of consciousness between seizures.

Approach to Shock

Shock is a state of acute circulatory failure leading to decreased organ perfusion, with inadequate delivery of oxygenated blood to tissues and resultant end-organ dysfunction and it is an emergency condition.

Approach to Stridor

Stridor is an abnormal, high-pitched sound produced by turbulent airflow through a partially obstructed airway.
